Most likely true.

But I don't have enough information about what he's doing to say that conclusively, so I answered his question as posed. It's altogether possible that he was providing a simplified scenario in his question in order to understand how the mechanism works without being distracted by the complexity of his actual code. I've done that at times when posting to this list.

You also can't expect someone to understand when or why to use a certain mechanism if they don't understand how to use it. Exploration is the key to becoming a good programmer. Now he knows how to use it from my post, and when not to use it from your post, so all is well. :)
