This is an excellent book to understand Cocoa and things like IB.

I wonder if you reviewed the Objective-C Programming Language document
that Apple provides online (see link below)? I found it to be an
excellent overview of Objective-C, OOP concepts, and many of common
patterns used in Cocoa (and allowed for by dynamic bound languages
like Objective-C).
