Sync Services: role of client type

  • Subject: Sync Services: role of client type

  Hi all,

I am reading the Sync Services documentation and do not
really understand but only guess what the "client type"
(which can one of {app, device, peer, server}) is good for.

Am I right in assuming that the only point where the
client type plays a role is when the framework decides
which observing clients are going to participate in a sync?

So when a server (like .Mac) syncs, a device will
(usually) not participate in the sync (unless "the user
specifically requested that those devices be included",
as marked on
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/documentation/Cocoa/ Conceptual/SyncServices/index.html

So the default hierarchy (from fast to slow) would be
app, server, peer, device? Or are there other places
where the client type matters?

  Any clarification helps!
  Thanks,
  Kaspar
