Indeed I'm currently preparing a new release of the framework,

If you can not wait at all, tell me, I'll send you everything by
mail. Otherwise, the web page should be updated soon (hopefully
couple of days). It will support MySQL v4.1 authentication.
That is very keen. CocoaMySql depends on SMySql, and an update would
be quite appreciated. It is one of my two favorite MySql clients -
MacSQL being the other.
About licenses, note that MySQL is GPL, unless you buy a license.
It is the same for the framework... So if license is an issue, you
might want to reconsider the choices you have.
Of course, if your product _is_ GPL, you can also use MySql without a
fee. (Note - it is not enough for the product not to be commercial.
It has to be available, or on the road to same, and GPL to qualify
for that fee-less license.)
