Joshua,

Thank you so much. Great advice and EXTREMELY helpful. I was indeed using NSCopying protocol but didn't realize it. I reread my Obj-C book's (Kochan's Programming in Obj-C) chapter on copying objects and found my error. Now implementing a copy method in my classes that were in fact using the protocol makes the whole thing work. Imagine that!

:)

Also thanks on the naming advice, I made those changes too. It just makes so much more sense and in essence helps me to understand what's going on better. It's those bits of advice that would be ideal in an "intro to programming using Obj-C" class. In my quest to learn this stuff in retirement I had to take a C++ class at one of the local community colleges. It's a shame there aren't any intro Obj-C classes. The worst part is I live in the Bay Area and you'd think that at least one of the locals would offer something like that. But it's all Java, C# or C++.

Anyway, many thanks.

Steve
