I swear I'm not making this up. I compile a release version of my
application under one user name. On one of the panels, the tabbing
function works just as it should: the tab key doesn't take the
selection outside of the text field matrix. I move the application
bundle from the xcode build directory into my applications
directory, so I can use it. When I run the application from that
location, it works just as it did in the build directory; which of
course it should.
Now for the weird part. When I log on as a different user, and run
the application from the applications folder, the tabbing feature
for that panel behaves differently. Now the tab key will select
other elements on the panel, before going back into the matrix.
There is nothing in the user defaults settings for the application
that has anything to do with tabbing behaviour. In fact, there are
only two defaults: one for font size in a different window, and
another for file paths. That's it. But just to make sure, I erased
the plist file from the Preferences directory and had the programme
rewrite it. It made no difference.
What on earth could be causing this?
Check the system preferences for the two users, under the "Keyboard &
Mouse" pane, "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab. It sounds to me like one user
has "Full keyboard access" enabled, and the other does not.
