Thought the response itself sounded a bit brash, it's coming from the "how is this relevant to your Cocoa development" standpoint. If it's got nothing to do with Cocoa, it definitely should not be posted to this list.

I think that trying to understand how a Cocoa application does something that is related to what one is trying to do in one's own Cocoa application is _directly_ relevant to this list. Devin has stated that the purpose of the exercise it to allow scaling and scrolling of the frames, which potentially requires access to the raw video. The existing Cocoa DVDPlayback framework allows for de- interlacing and colour correction, which require the same level of access. In what way is it not reasonable to ask on this list how one Cocoa application does something, for the purpose of trying to do something similar in another Cocoa application?

Perhaps I can rephrase the question to this list, since I too would like to know the answer. Does anyone here know if there are any (non- occult) APIs used by the DVDPlayback framework to handle functions such as colour correction and de-interlacing and if so would they tell us?

I really don't see the reason for such a response. I'm simply curious how it's done.

Thanks,

Thanks for your reply. How does DVD player apply de-interlacing and
color correction to the dvd video?

Magic. Why do you care?
