It also doesn't do anything for those who come from the visual design world. There's a reason you don't write code to do layout in InDesign or Illustrator. ;-)

Knowing how to create interfaces in code is essential to Cocoa programming, of course. Being able to draw a view and its subviews in code is a required skill. But the human-brain-thinks-about-layout- visually aspect of what Interface Builder does is something you don't quite get in code.
