I have the deployment version of my Cocoa in Carbon NSStatusItem application working perfectly inside Xcode. I tell it to run and the icon appears in the system status bar. However, when I try to run it outside of Xcode, it runs but the icon does not appear in the menu (system status) bar. The attached menu works as expected. What is
Xcode doing to start the program that I am not?

Does your app make any assumptions about the PWD? Xcode always sets the PWD to the application's path, but the Finder sets it to /.
