Jordan:

A quick search of the documentation for "serialization" provides this link:

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/Archiving/ Concepts/serializations.html

  ... which states ...

"Serialization converts Objective-C types to and from an architecture- independent byte stream. In contrast to archiving, basic serialization does not record the data type of the values nor the relationships between them; only the values themselves are recorded."

In the Cocoa documentation I see alot of depricated methods that use
the term 'serialize'.

Out of curiosity, what does serialize mean?
