Well, my default vm currently is 1.5 (java -version in the console). But when creating a VM using NSJavaSetupVirtualMachine() I'm not able to execute java compiled for 1.4+, which lets me think the vm is of version 1.3. So i'm not using jni at the moment, I'll try the java- dev list for suggestions on version selection using NSJavaSetupVirtualMachine.
