In the Info.plist file,
add the following child to root,
"CFBundleGetInfoString" and select class type as "string"
and provide the version string.
This should display the version in the finder preview.
I was experiencing a weird problem, until I relaunch the finder, it was not
showing the version!!!

That now shows the version string in the More Info window, but still
no Version: in the finder preview column.
