I thought perhaps I could just observe the dict, but I don't recall whether
NSDictionary triggers notifications on element changes (or I am just brain
farting here).

If that doesn't work, I bet you could override setValue:forKey: in a NSMutableDictionary subclass.


It recently worked for me (with NSManagedObject, but that shouldn't matter):
