Hello Rob,
One product that is quite useful (albeit a bit pricey) in this regard
is Eggplant. It uses VNC and a scripting language where you compare
snapshots of parts of your GUI to determine if the app has the
correct behaviour. The advantage is that it is architecture
independent and can also be used for web applications.
The guys are very helpful and responsive and I had a good experience
with them.
