[Q] setAllowedFileTypes: of NSOpenPanel

Hello.

Although I read the document, but I don't understand how the setAllowedFileTypes of the NSOpenPanel works.

Is it for setting allowed file types before displaying an Open panel?
Or, can allowed file types be changed using the method when an Open panel is already displayed, ( and you can see the effect on the fly. )
If it is the second case, it would be easy to make a customized Open panel, where you can choose file types to filter out files in its NSBrowser pane.

Thank you.
