NSOpenPanel (or other filesystem browser) and hidden files/directories

  • Subject: NSOpenPanel (or other filesystem browser) and hidden files/directories

[I found some old versions of this question, but nothing very current;
my apologies if I've overlooked something.]

The default behavior of NSOpenPanel is to just show the files and
directories that the finder does. Is there a way of customizing it
to show all files/directories, including ones beginning with ".",
as well as /usr, /var, etc.?

Assuming the answer is "no", does anyone know of a re-implementation of
NSOpenPanel/NSSavePanel that does allow this?

(I know of the Shift-Command-G trick, but that only works if one
isn't really browsing.)

Thanks for any help!

Alley
