I'm starting on a Cocoa drawing application based on SVG, which I
plan to make open source (BSD license). I figure I may as well start
early on finding other people interested in the project. The
tentative name for the project is XVG.
More specifically, what I want to make is a library for other
applications to use, with a demo app to show off the library's
features. For myself, I plan to use it in the next major version of
my icon editor, Icon Machine. In a sense I'm releasing a large
portion of Icon Machine as open source.
I intend to start up a SourceForge project once I have the basic
shapes working for opening, saving, rendering, and editing, unless
someone wants to participate sooner than that.
And if you're wondering "What about Inkscape?", my goal is to make an
OS X native app that doesn't unduly expose the SVG underpinnings. I
just chose SVG because I like the feature set.
You should probably reply to me off-list, especially if we're going
to stray from the Cocoa aspects of the project. Thanks.
