Want to be called or notified when the screen saver kicks in and out

Hello,
Anyone have any info on how to know when the screen saver kicks in and out - would like to install a callback or listen for a notification or like in the old days patch a trap. Looked into posing as the ScreenSaverView but when the posing documentation says "globally" replace a class I think they mean within the app not system wide. Have also considered writing a screen saver that let you select a screen saver then when I get called do what I need to then call the selected screen saver. Or could look at the open source to see who and what calls the screen saver, don't really want to mess around in that area but still would like to see where if any knows.

Any info on this area would help
Thanks
Jack
