NSMenuItem setAttributedTitle, title draws too high

I'm using -setAttributedTitle: to make the titles of menu items in a popup smaller. Specifically, I'm setting NSFontAttributeName to [NSFont systemFontOfSize:10.0]. It works, except that now, the title is drawn at the top of the menu item's rect. I can tell because they also have an image which was set with -setImage:. Is there some way to set the alignment of the title?
