NSTableView question

So I have a table that displays an array containing file paths. The problem
is, after I've loaded the array and it's been displayed in the table, when I
later call the table to get its array the array is empty. I didn't empty it!
What do I do?!?! Is there some little Obj-C quark I'm missing?
