Strange effect when rotating and scaling

Please be kind to a newbie.
I have a rotated scaled image in a sub-classed NSView within an
NSScroller.
I have just noticed that when the image is scaled and I am using the
rotation slider which is implemented in a panel I get a line from 2
of the corners which seem to contain some remnants of the image when
at its previous location. The line is not for the full length of the
width or height of the bounds rect but is on its perimeter.
It's as though the rect was not cleared correctly when the image is
rotated. I do not know enough cocoa to diagnose why this should be
happening.
Has anyone seen this before and could they please point me in the
right direction.
Thanks
