Search Menu Template and Category States

  • Subject: Search Menu Template and Category States

I have a vanilla NSSearchField that I am creating a search menu template for. The search menu both has category selections and recent searches in it and the field is bound to an array controller that handles the filtering. However, every time I send the search: action by hitting return, the menu is refreshed from the template (as it should be) and my category selection is lost (ie., the check mark goes away). What's a good way to keep a check mark on the currently selected search category in sync with the one selected in my controller?

Also, I'd like to make the menu text smaller like the Safari or iTunes search menu text without making the search field a small control (this doesn't look quite the same anyway). Does anyone know a way to do this?

TIA,

->Ben
