How do I find a specific file on disk?

I need to find a couple of files on the hard disk. I know the exact
names of them but they're pref files so could be in several places.
Also 4 of them will be in the System Folder of OS 9. I need some way
to search the disk and get their paths.

Thanks, Alan

P.S. Note that I only have 10.3 so don't give me anything 10.4 specific.
