Newbie Q: Xcode strangeness

  • Subject: Newbie Q: Xcode strangeness

I'm working my way through Aaron Hillegass' book and on a few different occasions I've noticed some strange happenings when I try to Build & Run (using Xcode 1.1 under 10.3.9).

The build starts normally, the progress indicator makes its way across the screen, a couple of errors are detected and then next to the progress indicator a hammer icon appears with the word "succeeded". However, the progress indicator doesn't disappear, the "Stop current build" menu item remains enabled and the icons in the toolbar are mostly disabled. Xcode then seems to be stuck in a state of flux.

The only way around it is to close the project and open it back up again. Once it's been reopened I can build and run the project fine. However, the first time I try and build after cleaning my target it happens again.

Is this a known bug, a problem with my code, a layer 8 problem or something else entirely?

Matthew
