strange - can you do a bit of debugging (view's -becomeFirstResponder et
cetera) and see if the view in question is in fact made first responder when
you are expecting it to receive mouseMoved events? you could also override
your window's -sendEvent: and check to see who is first responder when
processing the mouseMoved events...

i believe henry is correct in his assessment about tracking rects being
unavailable at init time.

I even added a trackingRect in the init method of my view

    [self addTrackingRect:[self bounds] owner:self userData:nil
assumeInside:NO];

...but no luck. Other ideas?
