Not long ago, October 9, another man asked how to do this. And figured it out.
"OK, I've got the scrolling text working well in my NSStatusItem. I
used setView to set a custom view, drew the text into an image an
then used compositeToPoint: fromRect: to animate the text."
If you don't want to puzzle out the best way to do it I suggest you
contact him directly and ask for his code. He should be happy to give
it to you.
