Hi everyone,
Me and a friend have been busy lately, trying to create a basic
screensaver similar to the native ones that Apple provides with OS X
(like "Beach", "Abstract" etc.). Our intention is to achieve the same
visual result, but with the additional ability to specify specific
providers (e.g. getting the images from Flickr, or why not Google
Images) - providing the screensaver's render engine with images. Our
efforts so far can be found at our SVN server, using the trac address
below...

Until now we've played around with Core Image, Quartz and NSImage but
we're still unsure which approach is the most "efficient" one. We
want the screensaver to have the lowest possible CPU load, while
still offering smooth translations/transitions. Monitoring e.g.
"Beach" shows almost no CPU load... exactly what we want!
Any tips on how to implement efficient translations/transitions are
more than welcome. Tutorials, example code... whatever, everything is
welcome :)
Thanks in advance!
/ Mattias
