Hmm... you could always file a radar on that. Seems like WebKit
should be able to clean up empty cache folders. It's a minor polish
issue, but doesn't hurt to ask.
(And technically it's open source so you could even provide a patch
and see if they integrate it!)

It did work almost perfect. The only "negative" effect is that ~/
Library/Caches/<my application> folder gets created. But it stays
empty.
Thanks.

try this:
[[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] removeAllCachedResponses];
[[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] setDiskCapacity:0];
when your app starts.

[+NSURLRequest (id)requestWithURL:(NSURL *)theURL cachePolicy:
(NSURLRequestCachePolicy)cachePolicy timeoutInterval:

possible values for cachePolicy implies that data will not be
cached at all. It looks like the only thing you can control is
should or should not cache data be used to satisfy request.
Write an NSURLConnection delegate with the following method:
-(NSCachedURLResponse *)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection
willCacheResponse:(NSCachedURLResponse *)cachedResponse
{
return nil;
}
