NSString converted into unicode

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody can give me a hint on how to convert an
NSString which contains å ä ö characters into a unicode string so that
I can create a correct URLWithString. Is there a way to do this
without using NSScanner?

Thanks in advance

P.S Sorry if this is a really simple question
