Reusing HTTP connections

We've written a bunch of code that relies on NSURLConnection etc. to download files via HTTP. It works well.
We're trying to modify it to do two things:

1 - Get byte ranges from a file instead of getting the whole file all at once. It looks like we can use addValue:forHTTPHeaderField: and specify a Range field to do this, although I don't think we've actually tested this yet. Has anyone tried this?

2 - Reuse the same network connection to download several ranges in sequence, instead of disconnecting and reconnecting for each download. Is this supported at all? _______________________________________________
