We've been running into a sporadic issue with a screen saver we are
developing.
On some machines, mostly G4's so far it seems, the install process
that System Preferences performs when you double click our bundle
appears to be failing without an error on a sporadic basis. This
manifests itself by the screen saver appearing to be installed, but
when you click on it in the list in System Preferences, it fails to
load a preview, test or options.
The only error we see is an entry in the console log:
2006-10-19 12:02:03.966 System Preferences[358] ScreenSaverModules:
can't get principalClass for /Library/Screen Savers/My Screensaver.saver
If we instead manually copy the bundle to the right location,
replacing the installed version, everything works fine.
Has anybody else had experience with this problem? We are very close
to deployment, and this is the only remaining blocker.
