It did the trick ! The search results and the refresh of the main
list are now almost instantaneous.

This delay shouldn't be happening. It sounds like there might be
something
wrong with how the search is hooked up. Be sure you are setting the
controller's *fetch* predicate. (Fetching is fast; filtering is
slow.) m.
