Is there another forum where a beginner like me can ask questions? I'm still new to Cocoa, and I know I've got more stupid questions to ask. I get the impression from the other responses I got that this isn't the place I should be asking them.

There's no better place than Apple's own cocoa-dev list. The responses you've received are based on the expectation that a reasonable exhaustive search is done before posting questions. It's not personal. :-)

Many of the questions beginners ask have been asked many times before and are relatively easy to find in most cases. That in addition to the extensive documentation that's available in your / Developer folder as well as online at the ADC gives you plenty of reference material to search first.

The list guidelines provide links which give good tips for posting effectively to the list:

If it's obvious you've made a reasonable effort to research your problem first, then made a good, clear post (following the afore- mentioned tips), you'll get the best responses. Newbie status is no big deal, but the best skills to learn early are good, solid research skills.

  Hope that's helpful.
