Look into NSMovie and NSMoviePlayer. This will give you what you're looking for, I believe.

If you don't need to target earlier than Tiger, you should use QT Kit, which obsoletes NSMovie. http://developer.apple.com/ documentation/QuickTime/Reference/QTCocoaObjCKit/Intro/IntroQTKit.html
