Something that's important for everybody using the list to remember is that email clients generate References: and Message-ID: headers in outgoing email and can support organizing the messages that you receive by thread using these headers.


This has two significant implications for people using the list:

(1) If you need to post follow-up information on a question or other post, do it as a reply to that post with the same subject.

(2) If you want to post to the list, do so by creating a new message rather than replying to an existing one and changing the subject.

#2 is obvious but #1 is also important because it makes context information available to the people reading them.
