Is it just me, or are there some words missing in the quoted text ?
What does "Disable a control when users expect it to apply and they
can easily deduce why the control is disabled." Did they mean
"can't easily deduce" ?
I think what they meant was "disable a control when users expect the
'disabling' to apply", that is, the 'it' in that sentence refers to
the act itself of disabling the control. In any case, I agree that
the wording is confusing. It would have been much clearer if they had
said
"Disable a control when users expect the control to be disabled or
when they can easily deduce why the control is disabled."
