Locking a nib in subversion or Clear Case or whatever you use is an excellent solution. Why would anyone say it's not a real solution ?

Similarly, application or build configuration files are routinely locked for exclusive access. Images used in an application are frequently locked for exclusive editing. Have you ever tried to merge two different sets of edits to an icon ?

Concurrent versioning is very powerful and useful, but there will always be good reasons for exclusive editing (locking).

What is the problem here ?
