Getting default system font

  • Subject: Getting default system font

How does one go about getting the current system font? I have a NSStatusItem in the menubar using a NSAttributedString as it's title. I can set the font to whatever I want it seems, I'm new to text manipulation in Cocoa. Although I would like to make it a user preference, I think it should default to the current "System Font". Is there such a beast? I've looked through the archives, and have found several discussions on setting the default font for an application, I can't find anything about getting the default font. The Apple docs don't provide much help either, it took me a while just to get a superscript in the title. Can someone help me out here?
TIA
