Marcus,
I'm not understanding the point to this. If you need just one string
object what's wrong with NSString? Core Data is all about managing
graphs of object and persisting them to a file or database.
Take a look at this document:

Especially the part about "Building a Text Editor in 15 minutes."
I just don't see a need for Core Data here.
