In Xcode, Get Info for your application's target, then click the Properties tab in the window that appears. Do you see the identifier for your application? That's the name of the file you'll find in ~/ Library/Preferences. It has a .plist extension.


And yes, it's automatic. You apparently know the rest, given the content of your message.
