I'd call it a bug. I think you typically avoid it by setting a minimum window size so that the window can never get smaller than the textfield. You may have to shrink the field in IB if it currently is too large to fit on your minimum window size... i.e. set up the window and controls in IB at the minimum size and they should grow ok.


Question #2: if it is a bug, is there any way for me to check whether it's a known bug before reporting it?

Nope, but duplicate reports aren't a problem... think of it as another vote for getting it fixed!
