Scanner support on OS X is somewhat thin. That's why I developed my own for
Fuji scanners. You could also check the open-source SANE project, although
the last time I tried it on Mac it was just sad...
If your scanner has an OS X driver and you only need to scan a single page
at a time, Image Capture Architecture (ICA) is the easiest to start with. If
you scanner has a TWAIN driver, that shouldn't be too bad.
