Hey Alex

You might want to take a look at DragNDropOutlineView in /Developer/ Examples/AppKit/DragNDropOutlineView

Using that as an example, it would be fairly simple to modify it to have a gradient view I should have thought :)
I also believe there was a thread on this list not too long ago discussing something very similar, so maybe have a route around the list archive?
