NSWindow behavior

Hi everyone.
I am wondering a common behavior performed by NSWindow.
A normal cocoa window "closes" when we click the red round button at the up-left corner. So far so good. Now I want to know whether the memory of the window is released when we perform this action.
Or only the window is set to be invisible.

Thank you in advanced.
