NSAnimation in leopard

Dear fellow developers, I have a 0.3 sec NSAnimation that resizes and
changes the alpha a borderless window with an image in it. The effect is the
same as the finder when you launch or open a file.

In Tiger this is animation is super super smooth, (many frames x sec)

As I updated to Leopard, this animation got extremely bad. I see 2-3 frames.
I have a good Macbook pro, so I don't think it has to do with the hw.

I can't really figure this out, I tried different NSAnimation option but I
cannot make it work ;-( before I start to write my own animator, does anyone
have any suggestion?

Thank you,
Giovanni Donelli

PS: the app is Sapiens: http://www.donelleschi.com/sapiens/
