No, nothing. In fact, I can write any nonsense in the Value Transformer Name Field in the attribute-editor, it never produces an error.

That's suspicious; in that case I'd expect to see an error at some stage along the lines of:

Warning: no NSValueTransformer with class name 'XXMyValueTransformer' was found for attribute 'nickname' on entity 'Person'


What happens if you delete the attribute then add another one with the same characteristics?
(Save a copy of your model file first so you can use it to file a bug report if this works.)
