How can I hide a floating window (NSFloatingWindowLevel) when my application is not frontmost?

I am after the behavior of palettes and HUDs that autohide when the application loses key.

In Interface Builder, select the window and choose the "Attributes" pane on the inspector panel. Select the "Hide on deactivate" checkbox.
