Thanks a bunch! I chose to just archive with NSKeyedArchiver into NSData, then unarchive with NSKeyedUnarchiver. Works beautifully.

Well, the type is. However, setPropertyList:forType: still requires a valid plist. If you want to archive non-plist objects, you'll have to use NSKeyedArchiver to archive them into NSData and then put that on the pasteboard, or use some othe pasteboard method.
