building upon existing screensavers?

I have curiosity...

I'm creating a basic screensaver that shows the next few songs playing in
iTunes.
But, the longer I'm working on it the more features I'm putting into it.
However, many of these features are already available through other
screensavers, so I was wondering if it were possible to select a random
screensaver, and just add text above it.

I'm sure that the answer is no, but just it case. It's be pretty awesome and
save me from thinking of more features and spending an insane amount of time
on a fun, getting to know cocoa application.
