First question:

OS 10.4.8, IB 2.5.4.

I received a "read only" message while opening a nib file. I then went to the finder and changed the permissions in the enclosing folder and noted that the permissions appearing at the nib level also changed to read and write. However, upon opening the nib file again, I received the same message that the nib was read only.

I then opened up the nib's package contents and saw that the permissions were read only at the content level. After changing the permissions for all of the contents, I was able to modify the nib.

Issue: is this supposed to be the expected behaviour? I thought that by changing the permissions, via the propogation option, that all of the sub-items would also be changed.

Is there supposed to be an exception for package contents and if so are there any other exceptions?

Second question:

On opening a file, NSFileReferenceCount returns a count of one. What does this mean and where do I find the address link?
